3 Down, 36 Left, It's All In The Newsletter Written by on December 15, 2014

Once again ESC Insight’s Ben Robertson has gone through and found the best headlines from the Eurovision world and put them all in one place, our ESC Insight newsletter.  The latest edition can be read online as always. However it is even easier to get it sent directly to your inbox every time it comes out.

This week’s edition comes with the new song from The Netherlands as well as preselection tension building up across all of Europe as well as the top articles from across the Eurovision Song Contest family.

Ben Robertson is getting his Euro-sense tingling for the start of the National Final season proper (Malta and Macedonia were really just fault starts after all) and has reviewed some of the highlights of the last couple of weeks for us.

“It could instead by Belarus that have the spoils of glory. Taking the novel approach to Eurovision they have filmed every act who entered in their live audition creating some fabulous disasters on stage. I want to list them all here, but Ewan’s told me that I can’t show my adoration of zombie/granny-rockers/anti-smoking fun too openly on the newsletter, so I’m to re-direct you all to the fabulousness of parish friend Roy Delaney running Eurovision Apocalypse for the highlights here. If you want the pleasure of uncovering gems yourself almost all the performances are available one after the other on this link. Apologies given for any ear bleeding caused, or any brains eaten by that catchy zombie song (sorry Ewan I couldn’t help it, it’s too good!). The national final is on and Rybak’s squeaky-clean group of Belarussian wannabe princesses are still in the running.

A Dal returns with thirty more songs hoping to keep up the high standard of last year. Eurovision fans will recognise Kati Wolf who is back (although her song is a bit meh even if Linnea Deb is on the authors list). Estonia also thrills with the brilliance of seemingly healthy once more, only this time I’ve managed to bag two seats with a 20% reduction if you buy before the end of December. That’s the wife’s Christmas present sorted. Most songs are out (including this from the partner of the Prime Minister) and I’m calling Unriddle Me as the one to watch which shows Sanna Nielsen how to pull off songs with shocking use of English grammar. English languages speakers may also be disappointed when they google translate the lyrics to Kuum as well (it means hot supposedly).”

More newsletter fun is available as well as in Robertson’s Reflection which this week looks at the impact of the ticketing crisis that many fans faced for the Eurovision Song Contest this year.  Remember to sign up to get it sent via email directly when every edition is published.
