Eurovision Insight Podcast: The Interviews Written by on May 8, 2011 | 3 Comments

Throughout the first week, the performers at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest are available for the press to interview. Sometimes you get little more than thirty seconds and a quick question, other times you can spend time with the artist and really get to know them

The original plan had been to drop a few interviews into the daily chat shows – but the plans changed on the ground when those shows found their own rhythm and pace. So pour a drink, settle back, and let’s meet some of the people we’ve been talking about for the last few months!

Eurovision 2011 performer interviews
Hosted by Ewan Spence, with…

Eric Saade (singing Popular for Sweden).
Musiqq (singing Angel in Disguise for Latvia).
Senit (singing Stand By for San Marino).
Vlatko Ilevski (singing Rusinka for Macedonia).
A Friend in London (singing A New Tomorrow for Denmark).

These are the only interviews I have listened to and all the acts sound so genuine. They all have something special about them, Eric seems very determined on his future career. Musiqq seem to have a good outlook and really want to get to the finals. Senit is really nice and is really behind San Marino, she has some funny phrases, love the reference to Monopoly it is very true. She is just so nice and friendly, I so wish I could be in Dusseldorf. Vlatko is very defensive, but proud of his song, he is nice and a bit of a joker. A Friend In London are great I love their song, they seem to be very into their entry, they will do well this year. Good luck to all the artists and countries

  3. Joe Varnell & Kevin Bourassa says:

    Hi Ewan from Canada

Thanks for the great job you’re doing making those of us who live outside Europe and who can’t make the pilgrimage every year feel like we’re there ( though we did manage it in 2006)

Wanted to comment on North Americans watching via Internet. Yes, it’s broadcast in the afternoon but who says you can’t party in the afternoon. Last year we bought a mini-projector, hooked our computer up and had friends round for a party, complete with copious amounts of champers and eurovision inspired food (fly on the chicken wings of love:))

So want to encourage North Americans to host parties and introduce your friends to the contest. Until we prove there’s an audience, we’ll never get a network to pick up the live contest.

Thanks for the douze pointes coverage and hope to join you at the next contest!

    Joe and Kevin
